Overwhelmed at work

Work is overwhelming! I am preparing to become a teacher; taking classes, watching videos, attending orientations, reading text books, talking to other teachers, learning about how to use new technology, taking notes, writing ideas and the list goes on and on. But no matter how overwhelming it seems in the preparation of this career I am still excited that God is calling me to it!

Our jobs can be overwhelming; filled with emails, texts, voice mails, meetings, reports, employees, employers, attitudes, projects, presentations, traveling, appointments and the list goes on and on. But no matter how overwhelming it seems there is a purpose behind it. There is a reason you are in the position you are in right now. Did you get this “job” or “career” because of your passion for the purpose or common good? Did you seek this job as an opportunity to take care of your family, put food on the table and have a stable life? Did you say yes to this position because it utilizes your talents and challenges you to new ideas and destinations? Do you go to this workplace daily to set an example for your children that working is part of living a good life in our society?

We all work for different reasons. We will all feel overwhelmed at many different times in our jobs. Today, consider some of the reasons you do your job. If you reflect deeply enough you will find that within your job there are opportunities for personal growth, education, deep relationships and the means to support your family and way of life.
