The Blessed Mother with Jesus
“Mary was the first disciple”
I recently read this quote in a spiritual book. I about fell over. But it is so true. God sent an angel to Mary to ask her if she would carry the son of God. She said yes and gave birth to the savior of the world.
Mary raised Jesus, loved him, nurtured and cared for him. She followed Jesus first and knew him best as a child. She said at the wedding “Do what he asks of you.” Mary learned from Jesus and she followed him all the way to the foot of the cross. She did not flee with fear or deny her son. She followed Christ to the end and rejoiced in the Resurrection.
Mary was the first disciple.
