“Who then can be saved?” Jesus looked at them and said, “For human beings this is impossible, but for God all things are possible.” Matthew 19: 25-26
We cannot save ourselves. We can surrender to Jesus Christ believe in him and give our lives to him. We can serve others selflessly and love selflessly but we cannot save ourselves. Our salvation is in the hands of God. However, if we know God well enough, we love others, serve others, and try to bring the kingdom of God to this earth then we know we are going to be with God in heaven. We also know that we did not earn that salvation but our belief in God will bring us so close to God that we know he will want us with him then like he does now.
so true, we can’t earn salvation, it is a free gift won for us by the death of God’s beloved Son on the Cross. But once we are called and respond to God’s love, we WANT to, we GET to, live out the Great Commandment to love God and others…a lot different than the attitude that I HAVE to do something…
