Understanding, December 23, 2015 Daily Reflection

“Fools take no delight in understanding, but only in displaying what they think.” Proverbs 18:2

When teaching the ideas of the Catholic Church, especially the controversial hot topics likes abortion, capital punishment, and assisted suicide, I must teach both sides of the argument. If I only teach my students that Catholic view point how will they ever understand the other person as well as respect their dignity. Understanding is paramount to growing as a human being.

This Christmas when you are with family and friends that drive you crazy because their views differ from yours take the time to try to understand why they hold those views. When you begin to understand you can build a bridge instead of a wall. Try it, try to understand.
