Reflecting on the lessons of my Christian Spirituality class, I have come to a conclusion. Prayer is our communication with God. It is the act of complete vulnerability, opening ourselves to God’s will so much so that we don’t know where we begin and God ends. It is no longer simply seeking God in all things, people, and situations. It is becoming the presence of God to others through our thoughts, actions, and lives. When another person meets us and they can see the light of Jesus Christ in our eyes, hear the joy of pure love in our voices, and feel the comfort and mercy they have searched for their entire lives in our friendship. It is not about becoming God, that is impossible, it is about opening our souls and lives up to God’s spirit flowing through us. One must be ultimately selfless to let God completely shine through. I believe that would be the ultimate prayer; living one’s life open to God and revealing the presence of God through our very lives.
