My favorite song right now is “A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri. As I listen to the words that say “I have loved you for a thousand years and I will love you for a thousand more…” my soul is touched. I listen to it as though God is singing it to me. Only God could know me for a thousand years or a thousand more. How can that be?
During my studies over the weekend of some of the New Testament letters I found this from 2Peter 3:8 – “Do not ignore this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years and a thousand years like one day.” Our human sense of time is just an idea compared to what time truly is within the concept of God’s time. Our lifetime is but a blink of an eye yet God loves each one of us individually, completely and unconditionally. We only have to look around us at our loved ones, our surroundings of the beauty of nature, and within our hearts and our limitless love to know that God reveals his love and care for us constantly.
Time matters not but what matters most is how we choose to love others during the time we are given by God.
