The Gift , October 1 Daily Reflection

Hannah making unbelievable music with her fingertips.

Hannah making unbelievable music with her fingertips.

Haunting, soothing, peaceful, soft to the ear and churning to the soul.  Her fingers gliding across the ivory keys, fingertips gently caressing each ebony.  Hanging in the air the music fading from our ears but would be seared into my heart for a lifetime.  The applause broke the silence of completion.  Standing, bowing with the slightest most subtle smile stretched out upon her pursed lips that held back  the braces of the teen.

We are all given different gifts. To some the gift of writing for others to witness a new perspective.  To others speaking words of comfort and kindness.  To others the ability to teach and set little minds a fire for learning.  To Hannah the gift of music.  A music that dances on my soul that penetrates straight through the awkwardness of the teenage years.  A music that unites her with all who had the luxury of being a part of that sound,  peace and music.  Thank you Hannah for sharing “The Dream Catcher” one of your special talents with us all.

“There are different kinds of spiritual gifts but the same Spirit;   To each individual the manifestation of the Spirit is given for some benefit.  To one is given through the Spirit the expression of wisdom; to another the expression of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit; to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit;  But one and the same Spirit produces all of these, distributing them individually to each person as he wishes.”

  1 Corinthians 12:4-11

We each have a gift to give it was given to us by God.  It is very difficult at times to figure out what that gift is and sometimes even to believe that we really have a gift.  Everyone has it not just those that know it and use it.  EVERYONE has a gift.  Reflect on that idea today and say a little prayer to God that He helps you to know what gift is yours.  I bet if you ask your child today what you as “Mom” do the best he/she can tell you pretty quickly some of your gifts.  Our children can recognize the good in us that we often fail to see.  So ask your child and instead of denying it say thank you give him/her a hug and accept that it is one of your many gifts.  God created YOU with a unique set of qualities and gifts to give to the world. It is up to You to figure out what those gifts are and how to use them and give them back to the world.
