2011 Gingerbread House

We have lots of traditions during the Christmas season each year. One of which is the gingerbread house tradition. We take all four of our children to Oma and Opa’s house, my in-laws, and the kids get to assemble and decorate a gingerbread house while my husband and I have marathon shopping day. Each year it looks a little different from the year before.

Isn’t amazing how parents can see the artistic nature of a child in icing and candies but a stranger cannot. A stranger would pass it over and buy a more perfected version. But to a parent that Gingerbread house is worth a million dollars and to Oma and Opa every moment they spend with my children is a priceless gift. Parents and grandparents wear rose colored glasses because indeed we are in love with our children and grandchildren. That is the way God meant for it to be and I for one love it that way.
