My boys in my favorite childhood tree

The smell of a summer rain on the hot asphalt, the sound of the firecrackers, the sheen of the sweet glistening on your legs in July; summertime is marked by our senses. Our memories transport us to different places and times in life. A moment of closing one’s eyes any where can result in the visitation of childhood, school, first loves, vacations, or fireflies in the night sky. Regardless, of location we can visit, our mind can conjure, comfort, and remember. What a skillful and beautiful gift to be able to remember and relive those moments time and time again.

What summer childhood memories do you cherish the most from your past? Today, thank God for the precious gift of memory.
