Jake's 1st Communion book

Jake’s 1st Communion book

Jake and I were reading from his 1st Eucharist book last night and talking about Jesus and how he sent the Holy Spirit to be with us. When Jake said “It must have hurt so much when they put the nails through his hands.” I told him “our sins are like the nails that held Jesus to that cross. Jesus died to save us from our sins.” He looked at me with his big blue eyes and said “it is so hard to understand.” I tried to explain to him that Jesus came so we could see God in a human form and hear his words and watch what he did and see him. I told him that it is hard to picture God. Then he said in a quiet voice, “I would love to see God.” I responded, “You could see God face to face because you are so pure of heart.” His eyes widened and a smile stretched across his face. My precious Jake understands his faith from a child’s mind but from the heart and soul of a disciple of God. He never hesitates to pray at any time in any place. He doesn’t think twice about talking about his faith and he trusts God completely. Jake inspires me and my faith.
