Peace Begins, October 30, 2018 Daily Reflection

Recently, in my town there was a violent shooting that killed two innocent victims. They were African American. It is believed that the white man who was mentally unstable killed them as a hate crime. He went to a Kroger and shot them, they were strangers to him. The violence in our world is painful to witness, people are dying senselessly.

One of the teachers at our school decided she wanted to help the girls discover the power they have to bring peace to this violence. She asked them each to reflect on something they could do, something small that could bring peace to our little corner of the world.

We don’t have to change laws, although that would help!The act of doing something instead of nothing is empowering. Honestly, if we want to change the world we have to do it by changing one heart at a time. It can be as small as hugging your parents tonight before bed, listening to a friend, helping a younger student with homework, or helping someone. Actually doing something can bring peace to our world.
