Sometimes my heart physically hurts when witnessing the pain of another. God created that reaction when he gave us a body and a soul united from our creation. Each of us has an unbelievably deep drive to seek out our creator and become one with His infinite love for each of us. People become misdirected, obstacles prevent a clear pathway, and distractions of our world entice us to experience the dark side of the world; greed, lust, and avarice. When distracted and misguided it becomes more than a challenge to discover God’s presence in our lives, it becomes a danger zone filled with pitfalls. This drive was not conditioned by others but naturally occurs. If we fill it with things of this world we will never be satisfied.

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give it to you” (John 14:27).  The type of peace that only God can give us is beyond our limited understanding. I believe that it is a state of being, a perception of calm, not frustrated by life, without anger and defensiveness, without hate or bias, a state of acceptance, an openness to love all and a unity with our Trinitarian God; the father, the son, and the Holy Spirit.  We were created to be in harmony and in relationship with self, other, creation, and God. We need the peace of Christ (his salvation) to open our eyes to honest self-giving love. The beginning of love is becoming aware of the pain of others, feeling it, and wanting to stop it with our own love. Sometimes my heart physically hurts when witnessing the pain of another.
