My Church

My Church

Mary Magdala went to the tomb and wept because it was empty. Jesus appeared to her and said, “Mary, Stop holding on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am going to my Father and your Father, to my God, and your God.” John 20: 16- 18

Many times in this life we cannot see past our own sorrow or concerns. If we look up we will hear the sweet voice of Jesus saying I am here. Jesus told her to let go. He also told her to go tell the disciples that he was going to his father. He did not want her to sit and simply consider what was happening. Christianity is mission. Christianity is action. We are to actively share the good news of Jesus Christ and God the Father with everyone through word and deed.
At Mass Sunday evening, Father Chris spoke of how we are to seek God outside of self, in others. If we are not looking for God we miss opportunities to help others and to gain help with our own spirituality. We are a church of mission. We must be educated and understand the scriptures but we cannot be satisfied by the understanding, the point of the understanding is to be mission. To walk into the world with the understanding of Jesus Christ and to share his message with our life.
