Matthew 5: 14-16
You are the light of the world. A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket; it is set on a lampstand, where it gives light to all in the house. Just so, your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly father.
I believe that God gave each of us freewill but if we listen to our hearts we choose the path that God will help to guide us down. I believe that you have clicked onto this blog for a reason today. For whatever reason God wants you to be reading this and you have to figure out that reason. God created you to be a unique individual there is no one on this earth like you. He has given you gifts that you probably don’t even realize you have yet. It is hard to believe that you have some of the gifts he gave you but you do. Think for a minute what are some of your talents? Not just what you do for a living or your hobbies but personality traits. What type of friend are you to others? Are you giving? Are you sensitive? Are you wise? Are you just? How do you treat those around you on a daily basis? Really take a few minutes to think about who you are.
God also gave the majority of you reading this today the gift of being a mom. What an awesome reality that is. To be able to love someone that greatly and to help that child to grow and develop into a being that can understand the world and to give them all that you were given, values, not material things. How do you use the gifts that God has given you to be a better mom, sister, daughter, friend, wife?
God created each of us for a reason. I believe He wants us to use our special gifts of who we are to make this place a more peaceful, kind and loving place to be. So as you go through this ordinary Wednesday consider what gifts he has given you and consciously throughout the day try to use a few of those gifts for the good of others. “You are the Light of the World” let that light shine in your little corner of the world, even if no one notices what you do believe me God will notice!
Dear Lori, I am enjoying your daily reflections-how inspiring that you are able to express your feelings and thoughts so well. I admire your ability to focus on your spirituality and then to describe it. Your children truly benefit from your efforts-and I know thisworks for you as I’ve seen you and your family in church. Keep up the good work. brenda sweazy
Lori, I enjoyed reading your reflections and as a mother of three and grandmother to three I can relate to the pure joy that children bring into our lives. As you said nothing prepares you for the joy and love you will experience when you hold that precious baby in your arms. It is a beautiful unconditional love.
Both you and Aaron are wonderful parents and your children have been truly blessed to have you. I think of you often and want you to know that it is a joy to know you both.
Your reflections are beautiful and your faith in God will help you through the many ups and downs of raising a family. I will recommend your website to the other Moms out there as it is sure to give inspiration!
Children and Grandchildren are a true gift from God to enjoy, love and nurture. Take care, Sending my love. Kathy
Kathy,
Thank you so much for taking the time to read the blog. You are such a great friend of our family! I hope that this blog can be inspirational to the moms and grandmothers who read it. I feel that sharing my faith with others is what God is calling me to do at this time in my life. Everyone that knows me knows I love my children and that is my biggest priority in life. It is so wonderful to be able to share my experiences with others. I just pray that each person who reads it can take something from it to grow closer to God and to help with being a faith filled mom, and raising their children with that same faith and love.
Love ya,
Lori
