Happiest Moment in New York, November 6, 2017 Daily Reflection

My favorite romantic comedy ever is Serendipity with John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale. It is sweet, suspenseful, and there is such chemistry between the two leading characters. Most of the movie was shot in New York City. So, while in New York I decided to look up a place that the characters had a huge ice cream Sunday that was central to the plot of the movie called Serendipity (also the name of the movie). I could not believe that I found it, thank you Google! My husband and I walked 14.5 miles on Saturday, the day before the marathon, exploring lower Manhattan, we saw the Statue of Liberty, rode the Stanton Island Ferry, walked on Wall Street, walked through the Trinity Church and cemetery where Alexander Hamilton is buried but nothing compared to visiting Serendipity!!

We reached the place in the afternoon and there was only a 30-minute wait. We read the history of the place and it was built in 1954 and Marilynn Monroe and Jackie Kennedy enjoyed the place. It had a famous history before the movie used it. It has two floors and the movie scene was shot on the second floor, I was hoping that we would be seated on that floor but it was so crowded I doubted it would happen. They called our name and took us up the steps! Then we were seated at the table where John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale sat. I almost freaked out!!! My husband ordered lunch. I ordered a hug ice cream like in the movie and I sat with a huge smile on my face. I am not a crazy fan girl but for this movie and John Cusack I kind of am. It was the best part of the New York experience for me. I know the historical parts are important and I appreciate that but that movie moves my spirit and makes me so happy every time I see it. It was such a pure and innocent delight to be in a place where my favorite move was shot! You can totally tell from the pictures how happy it made me.
