Mary gave birth to the son of God

“So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. 9 Suddenly Jesus met them. “Greetings,” he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. 10 Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me.” Matthew 28: 8-10
Jesus Christ chose to appear to the women in his resurrected form before anyone else. One would think that this would be significant enough to give more ranking to the women. God had a reason for this sighting which was very counter cultural. Women of this time were seen as extremely low in social class more like slaves. Yet, Jesus chose to appear to them first. As a Catholic woman I question why our Catholic Church all the way back to that time frame did not chose to see this as a sign that women are of extreme importance in the mission of Jesus Christ. God called the woman to proclaim the Good News to the men first!
Happy Easter!! May it be blessed and open to what God has intended for the human race!
