My work space for writing – one part of my work

This will be a week of cleaning in my house and outside in my yard. Yesterday, I took on a huge task, my home office. About 5 years ago I used my office daily. I wrote my blogs, and book proposals there. I prepared my motivational speeches, created retreats, and did some of my best work there. Then I started working full time and my Master’s program. Little by little my office became piled with books, bills, and paper work from my program. It was so bad that about a month ago I made the comment that it looked like a hoarders area. I put it on my list of things to clean the first week of summer. Yesterday, I conquered it. It was liberating taking all of the books from my program and putting them in a box to sell at half price books. It was a fabulous feeling to take all of the notes and binders of paper work from the program and recycle them. The sound of the shredder shredding years of bills was like music to my ears. I sorted and divided, recycled, and put into donation piles for 6 hours. I dusted, vacuumed, and stood in awe with a huge smile on my face when I was finished. I sat at my desk and realized I could use my office again!

Cleaning purges the clutter, dust, and pile up in my life. It’s that way with my location but also with our souls. We need to evaluate, reflect, and recycle, and clear out the piles of stuff in our way. Once we observe it, we can clean it and let it go. Then there is so much more room to be productive, relieved, and able to utilize the space once more. Today, try it for yourself.
