I have been reading about St. Augustine. Regardless of what I learn about him my spirit is constantly drawn back to this one quote. I think we are all restless until we rest in God. There is no rest without God’s peace in our hearts, minds, souls, and lives. If we are longing we should truly consider what it is that we think we are longing for. I think it all comes back to God, the creator of the universe, the ant, the human race, and me. God is inconceivable to our human minds but loves us each on a personal level. It’s a paradox, dumbfounding, yet comforting. Allow yourself a moment to meditate on the idea of resting in God. What does that mean to you? How would that look? What would that change?
”You have made us for yourself, O Lord, and our hearts are restless until
they rest in you.” – Saint Augustine
Say it over and over again and let it sink into your spirit…
