“Thus the heavens and the earth and all their array were completed. On the seventh day God completed the work he had been doing; he rested on the seventh day from all the work he had undertaken. 3God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work he had done in creation.
Gen 2:1-3
In a world of progress when Sunday is just another day of the week, how can we keep this day holy and give it the respect God wanted us to give it?
My family always goes to Church on Sunday but sometimes we have to go Saturday instead. I will admit we do not rest on Sunday. I wake up early in the morning to create lesson plans for the week. I clean house, grocery shop and try to get things ready for the week. If anyone has suggestions on how to make this day a day of rest in a mom’s life, raising four children, working full time with children involved in sports please feel free to leave a comment.
I pray that some day when I am retired and my children are grown Sundays will be a day when they all come to visit me. I hope after we go to Church together we hang out at my house and have dinner and relax. That is my hope for a day of rest.
I know the feeling…I rely on my morning offering so that all I do, I do for the honor and glory of God…each day, every day, each hour, every minute.
I start the Sabbath in church with my community praising God and while other activities unfold I try NOT to rush and let the day unfold…praying always in all ways.
I try to keep my life in balance…using the triangle as the symbol to measure how well I balance my relationship with God, work, and home life.
Sometimes I do well, and other times I don’t…but I know the formula to get back to balanced life-style.
