Worry, April 9, 2012 Daily Reflection

Homestead at Black Acre

This house was built over 100 years ago. Do you think the family that built it worried about how long it would shelter their family? Do you think they fretted about paying the bills to have it built? Do you think they were concerned that not enough pigs would be sold from their farm that year to put food on the table for their children? Well, it still stands and they have all since passed on. Do you think that worry gave them more time in their life?

Matthew 6: 25-27, 33-34

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothes?  Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?  Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

You are probably thinking ok this scripture reading is good and fine but if I don’t worry then what will motivate me to work for what you need? Stop worrying, do your work provide for your family do not overspend, do not be concerned so much for the future. Do the best you can with what you have and where you are. Give generously of your time and treasure and I assure you it comes back to you.

“Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?” Worry does not give us more life instead it causes anxiety, fear and illness. If you trust in God that He will provide for your needs (not necessarily your desired wants) then why are you worrying? Take it to God! Give it to God! Trust God He will take care of you. If you trust that God will provide then when you feel that worry creep up in your mind then just pray to Him “here it comes God I will give it to you.” Because not worrying does add time to your life, it adds a time for you to be with God and your family in a good and healthy place. Our worries affect our children. They will learn to worry if that is what you do. But if they witness you giving it all to God they will do the same.

Take your life back by giving the burden, the stress and the worry over to God. Trust God and He will provide!!!
