The Gift , October 1 Daily Reflection

Hannah making unbelievable music with her fingertips.

Haunting, soothing, peaceful, soft to the ear and churning to the soul.  Her fingers gliding across the ivory keys, fingertips gently caressing each ebony.  Hanging in the air the music fading from our ears but would be seared into my heart for a lifetime.

Fears, September 30 Daily Reflection

Pictures of Anna, Spencer and Jake

Jake said to me the other day “I don’t like the dark.  I am scared of the dark at night”.  My response to him was “The same thing that is in the light during the day is what is in the dark at night.  You just cannot see it without the light.”  How many of [...]

Open Your Hands, September 29 Daily Reflection

Open Hands

Open hands have so much to tell us.  They say I am offering you something; peace, love or kindness.  They say I am waiting to receive something; gifts, kindness or love. Last year a missionary priest gave a thought provoking talk about open hands.  He said that we should pray with our hands open so that we [...]

Chapter 13, Spread a Little God…

Can you see Christ in her eyes? He is smiling right through them.

Chapter 13 “You are the light of the world.  A city set on a mountain cannot be  hidden.  Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket;   it is set on a lampstand, where it gives light to all  in the house. Just so, your light must shine before others, that [...]

The Big Beech Tree September 24 Daily Reflection

Sunbeams shining across a huge tree with carvings all over it.

Have you ever heard the country song “That’s What I like about Sunday” by Craig Morgan? He sings “Take a walk down a back road, Tackle box and a cane pole;  Carve our names in that white oak,  An’ steal a kiss as the sun fades, That’s what I love about Sunday.” Did you ever [...]

The Tallest Flower September 16, Daily Reflection

The Tallest Flower

When I saw the flower that rose above the rest of the flowers in my garden I was struck by it’s height.  I did not know where it was growing from the bush or the ground.  Instead it appeared to just be suspended in the air.  It seemed to me that it rose as high [...]
