We are called, January 12, 2015 Daily Reflection

God CallingBefore I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I dedicated you, a prophet to the nations I appointed you. “Ah, Lord GOD!” I said, “I do not know how to speak. I am too young!” But the LORD answered me, Do not say, “I am too young.” To whomever I send you, you shall go; whatever I command you, you shall speak. Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver you—oracle of the LORD. Then the LORD extended his hand and touched my mouth, saying to me, See, I place my words in your mouth!

Jeremiah 1: 5-9

So many of us would love to hear God speak to us like he spoke to Jeremiah. However, God’s voice is rarely heard so well in our world today above all of the many distractions. God calls each of us in different ways. Have you ever felt as though you need to do something and that thought nags you in the back of your mind? Have you ever wondered if that was God calling you? Have you ever done a really good deed and realized that action was not something you thought to do but you did it anyway? Maybe that was God. Sometimes we get ideas in our head that we just set aside because they seem to far fetched for our lives. But no matter how much we try to ignore those thoughts they keep coming back? That could be God calling you. Don’t be afraid to ask God if he is calling you. Like in Jeremiah you are never too young, don’t be afraid God will put the words in your mouth.

Today, consider if you feel drawn to something. Pray about it and then trust in God when you answer his call. Don’t decline him instead talk to him about it. He may be calling you to something life changing!
