What we do in there, August 24, 2016 Daily Reflection

ChurchWhat we do in there, the Church, we do to bring it out here, to the rest of the world.

Before the resurrected Jesus Christ returned to his father in heaven he left behind the Great Commission, “Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey all that I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” – Matthew 28: 18-20

What we learn from religion in the Church should not be kept inside the walls of the church or in the confines of our “private” religion. Our faith is not a secret. Luckily, in this country we will not be killed for our faith. We are to learn about God, foster a relationship with Jesus Christ, internalize the grace of God, and then live a life of faith. If we live a life of faith in constant contact with Jesus Christ our thoughts, words, and actions will reflect the love of God and people will be drawn to that love. We must keep returning to Church to learn more, to be nourished by the Eucharist, and filled with the Living Word of God, to give us the strength to live the life that God graces us with daily. We must be evangelists in word and in action, not forcing religion, but offering the love of God with open minds, hearts, and arms to all those we encounter daily. When they begin to love us in return they will witness the source of our love and begin to understand God and how a relationship with Jesus Christ can change a life.

What we do in there, the Church, we do to bring it out here, to the rest of the world.
